When you are doing yoga your cortisol levels drop. Cortisol is a hormone that is released when you are physically or emotionally stressed. Brain activity also changes. When you do yoga, there is an increase in overall brainwave activity. Specifically, it changes the activity of alpha, beta, and theta brainwaves, which have been associated with improvements in cognition, memory, mood and anxiety.
